For individuals

Your money, in your own account.
Managed by written rules.

How MARBIN invests for the people it serves today, and what they get.

Strategies

The index as the base.
Disciplined tilts on top.

The capital MARBIN manages is split four ways, each part with its own money, limits and results. Money a strategy isn't using is never left idle in cash: it sits in a Shariah index fund until a strategy needs it. How much goes to each part depends on the profile a member chooses.

Base fundplus whatever is idle

Start from the index, not from cash.

  • A Shariah index fund (MSCI USA Islamic) holds its share of the capital, plus any money the core and the dip aren't using.
  • When a strategy needs cash, just enough of the fund is sold first; it is topped up again at most once a day.
  • No stop and no take-profit: the base is the benchmark itself. The strategies have to earn their place against it.
Long-term coreheld for months

Own the strongest, for as long as they stay strong.

  • Every night MARBIN reviews a broad universe of large companies and brings the strongest Shariah-compliant leaders onto its watchlist.
  • Once a month, it holds a focused set of the strongest companies — in established uptrends, financially sound, without a negative analyst consensus — spread across sectors.
  • A holding is sold when it loses its strength or its place, or at a crash stop resting with the broker. No take-profit: winners are allowed to run.
  • Between reviews, a holding whose risk rises sharply, or that no longer passes the Shariah screen, is sold without waiting for the month, and its place is filled with the strongest company not already held.
Short-term dipdays to weeks

Buy quality when it is oversold, and leave on a plan.

  • A company must have fallen temporarily without its fundamentals changing, and pass a series of checks — from upcoming results to the Shariah screen and the conversation around it.
  • Each buy is sized by its risk, so a stop-out costs only a small, fixed share of the sleeve; the stop rests with the broker, and the profit target is set at the start.
  • When several stocks qualify at once, the best-scoring setup is bought first.
Reservea little, kept in cash

Average down only when the market, not the company, is the problem.

  • Kept as cash so MARBIN can act quickly: for example, a US opportunity in the evening, when the London-listed fund can't be sold until the next morning. The fund then tops the cash back up.
  • A dip position may be added to once, if it fell while its whole market fell too: a mood, not company news.
  • Only for companies that still rate well on every check.
  • The stop keeps its price: averaging down never widens the risk.

The rules were chosen by testing candidates on years of daily prices, with trading costs, against simply holding the index. Two rules we tried, breakouts and buying pullbacks in uptrends, were weaker and were dropped; leaving idle money in cash was the biggest drag of all, which is why the base exists. Tests on the past are a guide to design, not a promise of results.

Coming soon · for members, on invitation

MARBIN manages it,
or you choose.

Members will be able to pick one of two ways to run their account. Most will want MARBIN to do it for them, and that stays the default. Members with investing experience may instead choose from a short list of MARBIN’s own options, as part of Premium membership. This is not available yet.

MARBIN managesthe default

Done for you, by MARBIN’s own rules.

  • MARBIN runs the account with its standard settings for the profile you choose, as described above.
  • Nothing to set and nothing to keep up with: you can still change your profile, pause, or take money out.
I choosePremium, for experienced investors

Your choices, within limits MARBIN sets.

  • You pick from MARBIN’s options for: how the capital is split between the core and the index fund, how many companies the core holds, a cap on technology, a cap on any one segment, and whether the dip trades at all.
  • Part of Premium membership, for members who pass a short check of their knowledge and experience, alongside the usual questions about you. If it isn’t right for you, MARBIN says so and keeps managing it for you.
  • You are responsible for the choices you make. MARBIN carries them out; it doesn’t advise on them.
Always onwhatever you choose

Some things are never up for choice.

  • The Shariah screen: nothing that fails it is bought, and a holding that stops passing is sold.
  • Crash stops and loss limits, resting with the broker as they do today.
  • The cash reserve, and a limit on any single company.

Capital at risk. Whichever way an account is run, its value can fall as well as rise, and choosing your own options doesn’t make losses less likely. Nothing here is advice or an offer to manage your money.

What members get

Your money, in your own account.
Every pound accounted for.

Your own account

The money stays in your name, in your own account at a regulated broker. MARBIN trades through access you can revoke at any time, and you can pause it yourself from your page.

Zakat, estimated

Your holdings’ zakatable share is worked out from what the companies themselves hold, with the nisab shown beside it. It is an estimate to help you, not a ruling.

Purification, calculated

For every dividend, the part that came from impermissible income is worked out, so you know exactly how much to give away.

Tax records, ready

Every sale is recorded in pounds at its own day’s rate, and every charge is dated. Download a UK tax year as a spreadsheet for your return or your accountant, every real-money account in one. ISA and practice accounts have nothing to report.

Every trade, on your phone

A WhatsApp message for each buy, sale and stop, and whenever trading is paused, saying who paused it.

Honest figures

Results in pounds, with trading fees and currency costs counted, and set against the index fund you could simply have held, period by period.

Zakat and purification figures are estimates to help you, and tax records are records, not advice. For your own affairs, ask a qualified scholar or accountant.

For invited members

How joining works.

Six short steps, and nothing is bought until the last one. Each is there to protect you.

  1. An invitation. MARBIN is invite-only: you’ll get an email from us with a link to your page.
  2. Sign in with a code. Type the email we invited and a one-time code is emailed to you. There is no password to remember, or to steal.
  3. A few questions about you. About two minutes: when you might need the money, what a fall would mean for you, and your experience. Your answers set how adventurous your plan can be — and if MARBIN isn’t right for you just now, we say so.
  4. Connect your broker account. Your own account, in your name, at a regulated broker. Where your broker uses a key, you make one that can trade but never withdraw; it is checked, then locked, and never shown again.
  5. Verify your identity (being introduced). Your passport or driving licence, checked by our identity partner; a short selfie video will follow. Why we ask.
  6. Approval. MARBIN looks at every new member personally before trading starts. Then your welcome arrives, and your first report the next weekday morning.

Invited and stuck? The joining guide walks you through each step.

Private and invite-only

Not open to the public, yet.

Today MARBIN manages the accounts of a small circle of invited family members, free of charge, while it builds a public track record. It isn't taking on new clients, and nothing on this site is an offer to manage your money. When that changes, it will be with the regulatory permission it needs, and it will say so here.
